Competitive Co-op Streams offering paid work experience: Put your skills and knowledge to work in our 20+ new competitive co-op streams across a variety of programs and disciplines (many in the humanities and social sciences!). You'll graduate with a distinct career advantage - building valuable connections and gaining hands-on experience through paid work terms, all in as few as 4 years as part of your Trent degree. Our new co-op programs build on Trent's longstanding commitment to provide all students with guaranteed career experience during your time as an undergraduate. Bachelor of Arts & Science (BAS) Pathways to Medicine: Trent is an ideal place to define your path as a well-rounded medical school candidate. Trent’s new Bachelor of Arts & Science/Medical Sciences (BAS & BSc) integrated dual degree program gives you the opportunity to define your own path as a well-rounded medical school candidate. Here, students pair the Trent BAS experience – 2 years of study exploring scientific, social and humanist theories and issues – with an opportunity to globalize their studies – gaining both a BAS from Trent and a BSc from Swansea University in the UK in one of their dedicated medical pathway programs including Applied Medical Sciences, Medical Genetics, Medical Pharmacology, and Population Health. Students at Trent interested in a career in medicine can also choose to study within Trent’s Medical Professional Stream. This one-of-a-kind preparatory program taken jointly with a BAS degree (or nearly any BA or BS. degree at Trent!), provides students with tailored support and guidance to achieve medical, dentistry, veterinary or pharmacy school dreams and to take advantage of direct-entry partnerships, clerkships and scholarships with renowned medical schools.

Climate Change Science & Policy (BSc): Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. Mitigating and preparing for this challenge requires scientific knowledge, strong communication skills and political awareness. Graduates of Trent’s new Climate Science & Policy BSc will be uniquely qualified to provide climate leadership across a wide range of sectors, agencies and organizations. Get active in your learning experience as you gain hands-on experiences with direct exposure to climate change issues. Take action towards climate mitigation, climate policies and low-carbon energy futures through a 4-month placement opportunity.

Criminology (BA): Justice served is about so much more than crime and punishment. In Trent’s new Criminology degree, you will gain a foundational understanding of the influence of social inequality as a cause of crime. Learning alongside faculty experts in Sociology, Law, Gender & Social Justice and Indigenous Studies, you will be able to apply your skills and knowledge to better understand the systems at play for both criminals and victims. In this hybrid-model program, students will study online and in-person on campus. Students also have the potential to perform independent research on homelessness and the criminalization of women, as well as gain critical understanding of the realities of Indigenous peoples’ and the criminal justice system.

Financial Science (BSc): Canada’s financial industry has a growing demand for graduates who possess quantitative analytical skills beyond crunching numbers – skills that help guide businesses and individuals with their most important investment decisions. Combining mathematics, statistics, economics, business and computing, this one-of-a-kind degree program will teach you to analyze investment industry trends and implement real-world data models, setting you up for an exciting career in an increasingly complex financial world.

Health & Behaviour (BSc): Understanding mental and physical health is complex. Through this new program you will gain a multidisciplinary understanding of the aspects that influence human behaviour and patterns of health, morbidity and mortality. You will investigate the complex issues around attempting to change lifestyle and actions through evidence-based practices, and understand the biopsychosocial perspective of well-being.

Law & Arts/Law & Business: Trent/Swansea Dual Degree (LLB & BA or LLB & BBA: In this one-of-a-kind program, you will graduate with 2 degrees in just 6 years – a Bachelor of Arts Honours or a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Trent, and a law degree from Swansea University's renowned Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. You’ll have the chance to take your education global while you live, learn, travel, explore and live abroad in the UK.

Chemical Engineering Dual Degree (BScChemistry & BEng): Simultaneously earn both a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Engineering degree in just 4 years instead of 7 through a new partnership between Trent University and Swansea University in the UK. You can even apply to graduate with a Masters in Engineering, adding just 1 more year to the dual degree – an option available to top students in their third or fourth year at Swansea.

Kinesiology (B.Sc.Kin.): Interactive and multidisciplinary, Trent’s 4-year BSc degree, now fully offered at our Peterborough campus, goes beyond the standard Kinesiology program. You’re encouraged to get hands-on – in the lab and out in the community – working with everyone from Olympic hopefuls to senior citizens. Get advanced clinical and practical perspective through courses integrated with Trent’s Nursing program, as well as classes in biomechanics, anatomy, physiology and more. By the time you graduate, you’ll have developed the expertise necessary to become a registered kinesiologist.

Medical Professional Stream (BA or BSc): This 4-year stream gives you an automatic edge with professional program examinations, applications and interviews. Trent’s one-of-a-kind preparatory program is taken jointly with any BA or BSc degree and gives you access to a variety of support and guidance services you need to achieve your medical, dentistry, veterinary or pharmacy school dreams starting on day 1 of your undergraduate degree.

Conservation Biology Co-op Option (BSc): With so many of the world’s species currently at risk, there is an essential need for experts who are capable of creating innovative solutions to counteract the growing loss of wildlife and their habitat. In this program – the only one of its kind in Ontario – gain hands-on, valuable experience working with groups like the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry, Nature Conservancy Canada, Metro Toronto Zoo, Parks Canada and more.
