Residences and Meal Plans

Residence Price(s)

The following costs are per academic year, September to April (8 months).

  • Algoma Dormitory (first year): $5,910 plus tiered meal plan ranging from $2,820 to $4,800 (meal plan is mandatory)
  • Spirit Village Dormitory (International & Canadian upper year): $5,410 plus tiered meal plan ranging from $2,820 to $4,800 (meal plan is mandatory)
  • Spirit Village Townhouse (upper year): $5,510 (no mandatory meal plan)

Note: $100 damage deposit and $50 residence life fee applicable for all residence options.

Room Types

All residence rooms are private single rooms.

Dormitory students share a bathroom with 1 other student (same gender). Weekly cleaning is provided in dorm bathrooms, common areas and hallways. Dormitory common rooms are available that house study spaces, entertainment centres and shared kitchens.

Townhouse students share 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and a living area with 4 other students.

Amenities

Wireless internet access in residence (common areas, outside, living rooms, etc.) and local phone service will be provided. Laundry and mail facilities are available on site.

Residence Guarantee

Guaranteed Single Residence Rooms for All First-Year Students

We guarantee a single room in residence to all first-year students who apply directly from high school and pay their deposit prior to the residence application deadline.

You must apply by June 1, 2024, with a refundable $500 deposit, plus a $50 non-refundable application fee.

Deposit Required

A non-refundable $50 residence application fee is required when you submit your completed application, as well as a $500 refundable deposit.

Meal Plans

The campus meal plan is mandatory for students living in dormitories. Meal plans are optional for students living in the townhouses.

If you require a special menu, contact the housing office prior to arrival to ensure adequate time for meal plans and preparation.

Other Information

If you decide not to live in residence, you must let Algoma University know by August 1, 2024, to have your deposit refunded.
