The University of Windsor is a student-focused, comprehensive university located next to North America's busiest border crossing on the scenic Detroit River. Windsor's location makes it the perfect spot for what is one of Canada's most important internationally oriented institutions.

Size

UWindsor is a medium-sized university with more than 190+ undergraduate degree programs, including professional programs in Law, Business, Engineering, Education, Nursing, Human Kinetics and Social Work. You will find an atmosphere that fosters close co-operation between students and faculty and an ongoing commitment to excellence.

Our City

Windsor is one of Canada's most ethnically diverse cities: The second most diverse city in Ontario and the fourth most diverse in Canada, with a population of about 217,000. The city is also the automotive capital of Canada and home of the Chrysler Pacifica, one of North America's most popular vehicles.

Detroit is close to UWindsor; you'll find major-league sports, big-name entertainment and scores of restaurants and outdoor cafes. Windsor is also Canada's southernmost city and has some of the country's best weather. There is an average of 2,261 sunshine hours a year.

In 2019, UWindsor was 1 of 16 Canadian universities ranked among the greenest in North America by the Princeton Review's Guide to 413 Green Colleges. The ranking is based on a healthy, sustainable quality of student life on campus, environmentally responsible school policies and how well students are being prepared for employment in an increasingly green economy.

• The Odette School of Business is an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-accredited, putting it among only 5% of business schools world-wide.  
• The School of Creative Arts (SoCA) commenced operating in brand new facilities in December 2017, located in the century-old site of the Windsor Armouries and a new, stand-alone building across the street, formerly the Tunnel Bar-B-Q restaurant.
• UWindsor's campus was ranked No. 22 on a list of the most beautiful campuses in Canada.
• In 2020, Kinesiology professor Dr. Dave Andrews was named a 3M National Teaching Fellow, described as Canada’s Stanley Cup of teaching. This award recognizes teaching excellence and educational leadership. Dr. Andrews is the 7th UWindsor faculty member to be named a 3M National Teaching Fellow.
• The Windsor Lancers varsity athletics program is one of the most decorated programs in all of Canadian University Sport. Throughout the years, UWindsor has gained a reputation of having an elite varsity athletics program as a result of the national championships that our Lancer teams have won.
• The Faculty of Science at UWindsor has a Faculty to Student ratio of 1:20, which is the best in Ontario and one of the best in Canada. This means that we can provide our students with unequaled transformative educational and research opportunities.
• The University's Department of English Language, Literature and Creative Writing offers unique, hands-on practicum courses in professional editing, publishing, web-based writing and editing, scholarship and writing about the arts.
• The Faculty of Law offers community-based work experience to students across a variety of focused areas of legal practice, often connected to social justice advocacy.
• UWindsor was the first in Canada to provide bystander sexual assault training, which has educated and trained more than 100 undergraduate workshop facilitators. Since 2011, it has been available to thousands of students, embedded in current courses in programs across several faculties, designed to produce a series of small but persistent changes in students' thinking and behaviour.
